Louisville Bats at Indianapolis Indians
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — The Louisville Bats look to build on a decisive win and extend a brief skid for the Indianapolis Indians when the International League rivals continue their series Wednesday at Victory Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with temperatures around 43 degrees.
The Bats (3-5) blanked the Indians 7-0 on Tuesday, handing Indianapolis (2-6) its fourth straight loss. Louisville will send right-hander Noah Davis (0-0) to the mound for his first start of the season. He will be opposed by Indianapolis right-hander Thomas Harrington (0-1, 3.86 ERA). Harrington is coming off a strong outing, tossing four scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a win at Columbus on April 5.
A key player to watch for Louisville is reliever Tejay Antone, who has not allowed a hit or run over 3 2/3 innings in three appearances this season, striking out five. In Sunday’s 6-2 loss to Iowa, Antone pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, while Héctor Rodríguez and Michael Chavis provided solo home runs.
Indianapolis snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory at Columbus on Sunday, led by Harrington’s start and a three-hit, two-RBI day from center fielder Jhostynxon Garcia.
Despite their records, both clubs have seen recent offensive flashes. The Indians scored 11 runs in a game last week, while the Bats plated 10 runs in a contest during their opening series.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Louisville 5, Indianapolis 2.
Following Wednesday’s game, the six-game series continues through Sunday in Indianapolis.
