Palm Beach Cardinals at Bradenton Marauders
BRADENTON, Fla. (Interstat) — The Bradenton Marauders and Palm Beach Cardinals, both 2-2, will look to break their early-season deadlock when they continue their series Wednesday at LECOM Park.
First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though weather could be a factor with a forecast of 68 degrees and rain.
The Cardinals evened the series with an 8-7 road victory Tuesday. Palm Beach outfielder Yordalin Peña drove in two runs in the win and is a key bat to watch, having gone 4-for-11 with two RBIs over his last three games.
Bradenton will counter with right-hander Jeter Martinez, who has been sharp in relief. In his last appearance, he threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three.
The Marauders’ bullpen, including Martinez, Treyson Peters and Chris Devenski, combined for 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball Tuesday, keeping the game close after an early deficit.
Palm Beach’s recent results have been uneven, sandwiching a 6-3 win and Tuesday’s victory between an 8-4 loss and a 1-0 shutout defeat to St. Lucie. Bradenton took two of three from Dunedin before dropping the series opener to Palm Beach.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Wednesday’s contest projects to be another tight one, with a predicted final score of Bradenton 4, Palm Beach 3.
Following Wednesday’s game, the two Florida State League foes will meet again Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to complete the six-game set at LECOM Park.
