Palm Beach Cardinals at Bradenton Marauders
BRADENTON, Fla. (Interstat) — The Bradenton Marauders look to continue their winning start when they host the Palm Beach Cardinals in a weather-threatened series opener at LECOM Park on Tuesday.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT under a forecast of 76-degree temperatures and rain.
The Marauders (2-1) enter after taking two of three from Dunedin, including a 4-2 victory on Saturday. Reliever Levi Sterling was key in that win, striking out four over 2 1/3 innings while allowing one earned run. He is a player to watch for Bradenton out of the bullpen.
Palm Beach (1-2) arrives after dropping a pitchers’ duel, 1-0, to St. Lucie on Saturday. Despite the loss, starter Jack Martinez turned in a dominant performance for the Cardinals, firing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Martinez is expected to be a key figure for Palm Beach.
The Cardinals’ offense seeks a spark after being shut out last time out. Their only win came in a 6-3 result on April 2.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Bradenton is projected for a narrow 4-3 victory.
Following Tuesday’s contest, the two Florida State League foes will meet for four more games this week in Bradenton. The Marauders then travel to face the Tampa Tarpons for a five-game series starting April 14, while the Cardinals return home to host the Jupiter Hammerheads for five games beginning the same day.
