Springfield Cardinals at Amarillo Sod Poodles

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Interstat) — The Springfield Cardinals look to secure a series split against the Amarillo Sod Poodles in a weather-impacted finale Sunday at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though evening conditions are expected with a forecast of 61 degrees and rain.

The Cardinals (1-0) and Sod Poodles (0-1) have traded blowouts to open the season. Springfield romped to a 10-1 victory Friday behind a historic performance from first baseman Dakota Harris, who went 2 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Amarillo responded with a 3-1 win Saturday.

Harris, the clear player to watch for Springfield, will look to continue his torrid start. For Amarillo, reliever Antonio Menendez is a key figure after tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in Friday’s loss.

The probable pitching matchup features Springfield’s Ashton Izzi against Amarillo’s Mason Molina. Official season records for the starters were not provided.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a Springfield victory, 7-3.

Following the game, Springfield returns home to begin a six-game series against the Tulsa Drillers on Tuesday. Amarillo opens a road series at Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday.
