Springfield Cardinals at Amarillo Sod Poodles

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Interstat) — The Springfield Cardinals look to build on a decisive opening-night victory when they continue their series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT, though forecasts call for 77-degree temperatures and rain at game time.

The Cardinals (0-0) opened the season and the three-game set with a 10-0 rout of the Sod Poodles (0-0) on Friday. Springfield’s offense carried momentum from its final 2025 game, a 13-1 win at Midland on Sept. 24. Amarillo seeks to rebound from that shutout loss and shake off rust from a longer offseason; its last recorded result was a 3-1 loss at Midland on Sept. 18, 2025.

Saturday’s pitching matchup features right-hander Braden Davis for Springfield against Amarillo right-hander Josh Grosz. Both pitchers’ season records are 0-0.

Statistical models give Springfield a slight edge. Interstat’s ELO system projects the Cardinals with a 54.60% probability to win, while its game simulator predicts a narrow 1-0 Springfield victory.

The game is the second of three in the series, which concludes Sunday in San Antonio. The Cardinals then return home for a six-game series against the Tulsa Drillers starting Tuesday. Following Saturday’s contest, the Sod Poodles will host the series finale before embarking on a six-game road trip to face the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

All records reflect the start of the 2026 season.
