Dayton Dragons at Lansing Lugnuts

DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — The Dayton Dragons look to build on a season-opening victory when they continue a series against the Lansing Lugnuts on Friday at Cooley Law School Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT under forecasted rainy conditions and a temperature near 54 degrees.

The Dragons (1-0) edged the Lugnuts (0-1) 8-7 on Thursday in a back-and-forth contest. Dayton will send right-hander Nestor Lorant to the mound. Lansing is expected to counter with right-hander Zane Taylor.

A pair of standout performers from Thursday’s opener will be in focus again. Dayton catcher Alfredo Duno went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the win. For Lansing, outfielder Rodney Green Jr. was a one-man offensive highlight, crushing two home runs as part of a 3-for-4, three-RBI night in the losing effort.

Despite the Lugnuts’ potent showing, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tight, pitching-dominated rematch, forecasting a 1-0 victory for Dayton. The same outlet’s ELO rating system gives the Dragons a narrow 50.7% probability to win.

The contest opens a busy early-season stretch for both Midwest League clubs. Following this six-game series, Dayton will host the Lake County Captains for six games beginning Tuesday. Lansing will hit the road for a six-game set against the Fort Wayne TinCaps starting Tuesday.
