Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Durham Bulls

DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging Lehigh Valley club looks to continue its perfect start against a struggling Durham team when the IronPigs and Bulls meet Thursday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 82 degrees.

The IronPigs (3-0) have opened the season with three straight wins, including a 4-3 victory over the Bulls on Tuesday. Durham (0-3) is still searching for its first win after dropping its opener to Charlotte and the first two games of this series.

Lehigh Valley will send right-hander Alan Rangel to the mound. Rangel did not pitch in the opening series. Durham will counter with right-hander Logan Workman, who also did not appear in the series’ first two games.

A player to watch for the IronPigs is pitcher Jean Cabrera, who delivered a strong start in Tuesday’s win, allowing one earned run over 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts. For the Bulls, reliever Cam Hill was effective in the same game, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

The series has been split so far, with Lehigh Valley’s 4-3 win on Tuesday followed by a 5-0 Durham shutout on Wednesday.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the IronPigs are projected to win Thursday’s contest 7-2.

Following Thursday’s game, the two teams will meet again Friday, Saturday and Sunday to conclude the five-game set. Lehigh Valley then returns home to face Rochester, while Durham hits the road for a series at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
