Dragons Edge Lugnuts in Season Opener
LANDSING, Mich. (Interstat) — The Dayton Dragons held off a late rally to defeat the Lansing Lugnuts 8-7 on Thursday at Cooley Law School Stadium. Dayton built an early lead and survived a two-homer, three-RBI performance from Lansing’s Rodney Green Jr. Dragons catcher Alfredo Duno drove in three runs, including two on a key seventh-inning double. Dayton’s Cole Schoenwetter earned the win in relief, and Cody Adcock secured the save. The game, played before 942 fans in 2 hours, 35 minutes, defied a pregame projection that favored Lansing. The Dragons begin the season 1-0, while the Lugnuts start 0-1. The teams continue their series Friday.
