Harrisburg Senators at Altoona Curve

Rain Expected as Senators, Curve Open 2026 Season in Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. (Interstat) — The Harrisburg Senators and Altoona Curve will open their 2026 campaigns under threatening skies Thursday at Peoples Natural Gas Field, with rain in the forecast and conflicting projections on the likely outcome.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. EDT with a game-time temperature near 71 degrees and precipitation expected. Both teams enter with 0-0 records, concluding their 2025 seasons last September. Harrisburg last played on Sept. 14, 2025, edging the Akron RubberDucks 5-4 at home. Altoona last took the field on Sept. 19, 2025, falling 3-1 on the road to the Erie SeaWolves.

Despite the soggy conditions, the game presents a classic statistical divergence. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a narrow, pitcher-dominated 1-0 victory for the visiting Senators. However, the same outlet’s ELO rating system gives the home-standing Curve a 54.40 percent probability of winning the season opener.

The contest begins a three-game series between the Eastern League rivals. The teams will meet again Friday and Saturday in Altoona before Harrisburg returns home to host Akron for a six-game set starting April 7. Following this series, the Curve will embark on a six-game road trip to face the Richmond Flying Squirrels beginning April 7.

Thursday’s opener marks the first step for both clubs in a 10-game early-season stretch. For Harrisburg, the schedule features seven consecutive games against Akron following this series. Altoona will play its next 12 games against either Harrisburg or Richmond before hosting the Portland Sea Dogs on April 14.

All eyes will be on the weather and which team can generate early offense amid the damp conditions, setting the tone for their 2026 seasons.
