Toledo Mud Hens at Syracuse Mets
TOLEDO, Ohio (Interstat) — The Toledo Mud Hens and Syracuse Mets continue their early-season series Thursday evening at NBT Bank Stadium, with both clubs looking to gain an edge in what has been a split opening set.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures expected to be around 41 degrees.
The Mud Hens (1-3) will send left-hander Bryan Sammons (0-1) to the mound, while the Mets (2-2) counter with right-hander Jonah Tong, who is making his season debut. Tong’s win-loss record from the previous season was not provided.
Toledo seeks to bounce back after a 4-2 loss Wednesday, which evened the series after the Mud Hens’ 5-1 victory Tuesday. A player to watch for Toledo is pitcher Lael Lockhart, who delivered a solid 4 2/3-inning relief appearance in that loss, allowing two earned runs and striking out five.
Syracuse will look for a repeat performance from starter Jack Wenninger, who earned the win Wednesday with 4 2/3 scoreless innings and five strikeouts against the Mud Hens.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects to be another tight one, with a predicted final score of Syracuse 5, Toledo 4.
The series will continue through the weekend, with games scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Syracuse before both teams embark on new series next Tuesday.
