Gwinnett Stripers at Round Rock Express
Winless Clubs Clash as Stripers Visit Express
ROUND ROCK, Texas (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first victory of the season will meet Wednesday when the Gwinnett Stripers face the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 82 degrees.
Both clubs enter with 0-2 records. The Stripers dropped a pair of one-run decisions to Memphis to open the year, while the Express were outscored 19-4 in two losses at Sugar Land.
Gwinnett will send right-hander JR Ritchie (0-0) to the mound. Round Rock’s starter was not announced.
The Stripers evened this series with a 2-0 road win Tuesday. A player to watch for Gwinnett is reliever Elieser Hernández, who logged five innings and struck out four in a tough-luck loss Sunday.
Round Rock’s bullpen, a bright spot in the early going, features Ryan Brasier. He tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings with a strikeout in his season debut Sunday.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Wednesday’s contest projects to be another low-scoring affair, with a predicted final of Round Rock 2, Gwinnett 1.
This game is the second of a four-game set. The series continues through Sunday before both teams embark on new series next week. Gwinnett returns home to face Nashville, while Round Rock travels to Oklahoma City.
