RAIN, RAILRIDERS AWAIT FRONTIER FIELD FIRST PITCH

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Interstat) — A wet forecast looms over Frontier Field as the Rochester Red Wings and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders prepare to continue their early-season series Wednesday.

First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, with a game-time temperature of 60 degrees and rain in the forecast. The International League foes enter with identical 1-1 records after Tuesday’s scheduled series opener was postponed without a pitch being thrown.

The RailRiders are set to send right-hander Brendan Beck to the mound. Beck’s season record was not provided. He will face a Red Wings lineup looking to build momentum after splitting a two-game set at Jacksonville to open the year.

A player to watch for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is reliever Zach Messinger, who turned in a strong performance in his last outing. On March 29 against Buffalo, Messinger threw 1 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings, striking out one in a 7-3 loss.

Rochester will counter with right-hander Andry Lara, who was effective in his first start. Lara took the loss on March 29 at Jacksonville despite allowing just one earned run on four hits over four innings, striking out four.

Both teams are coming off Sunday losses. The RailRiders fell 7-3 to Buffalo, though Yanquiel Fernández provided a bright spot with a home run. The Red Wings dropped a 4-3 decision at Jacksonville.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the RailRiders are projected to win 8-3.

Following Wednesday’s contest, the teams are scheduled to play four more games in Rochester through Sunday before each embarks on a new series. The RailRiders will host the Durham Bulls for a six-game set beginning April 7, while the Red Wings will hit the road for a six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs starting the same day.
