Iowa Cubs at Louisville Bats

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — The struggling Iowa Cubs look to snap an early-season skid when they visit the surging Louisville Bats in an afternoon game Wednesday at Louisville Slugger Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 79 degrees.

The Cubs (0-2) have dropped their first two games of the season, including a 5-4 loss to these same Bats on Tuesday. Iowa’s most recent defeat was a 7-5 result against Columbus on Sunday, despite a strong four-inning, six-strikeout relief appearance from Jaxon Wiggins, a player to watch for Iowa.

Louisville (2-0) has opened its season with consecutive victories, most recently a 10-4 win over Omaha on Sunday. A player to watch for the Bats, Davis Daniel, earned the win in that contest, striking out six over four innings of work.

Iowa will send right-hander Chase Petty to the mound. Louisville’s probable starter had not been announced as of Tuesday evening.

The Bats’ offense will aim to continue its early momentum against an Iowa team seeking its first win. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Louisville is projected to win 6-1.

Following Wednesday’s contest, the two teams will meet again for four more games through Sunday, April 5.
