Worcester Red Sox at Saint Paul Saints

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Interstat) — The surging Saint Paul Saints, off to a perfect 2-0 start, will host the Worcester Red Sox in the opener of a six-game series Tuesday night at CHS Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:37 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 62 degrees.

The Saints, coming off a 4-1 road victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Sunday, will look to continue their early momentum. A player to watch for Saint Paul is reliever John Klein, who was dominant in that win, striking out four over 2 1/3 scoreless innings of one-hit ball.

Worcester (1-1) arrives after a tough 10-8 home loss to Syracuse on Sunday, despite a strong relief outing from Zack Kelly, who tossed two scoreless innings. Kelly is expected to be a key bullpen arm for the Red Sox in the series.

The pitching matchup features Worcester left-hander Christian MacLeod, who will make his first start of the season. He will be opposed by a Saints starter yet to be announced.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest projects to be a close one, with a predicted final score of Saints 6, Red Sox 5.

Following Tuesday’s game, the two teams will meet again Wednesday through Sunday to complete the series. Worcester then returns home to face the Columbus Clippers for a five-game set beginning April 7. Saint Paul will hit the road for a six-game series at Toledo starting April 7.
