Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Durham Bulls
DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — Opposing trends will collide Tuesday when the undefeated Lehigh Valley IronPigs visit the winless Durham Bulls to open a six-game series at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 71 degrees.
The IronPigs (2-0) arrive riding early momentum, coming off a dramatic 8-7, 10-inning victory over Toledo on Sunday. Second baseman Robert Moore powered that win, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Lehigh Valley’s pitching was also sharp in a 1-0 win Saturday.
Conversely, the Bulls (0-2) are searching for their first win after two one-run losses in Charlotte, including a 4-3 defeat Sunday. Durham’s bullpen, a bright spot, kept them in both games. Reliever Chase Solesky was effective in his season debut Sunday, allowing one earned run over three innings with three strikeouts.
Moore, who has driven in three of Lehigh Valley’s nine runs this season, will be a key figure in the IronPigs’ lineup. Solesky could be a candidate for a bulk relief role again as Durham looks to stifle Lehigh Valley’s offense.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 victory for the visiting IronPigs.
The series continues through Sunday before both teams embark on new series next week. Lehigh Valley will host Rochester for six games beginning April 7, while Durham will hit the road for a six-game set at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starting the same day.
