Indianapolis Indians at Columbus Clippers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Interstat) — The Columbus Clippers, riding a season-opening sweep in Iowa, will look to extend their winning streak when they host the struggling Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday at Huntington Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 72 degrees.

The Clippers (2-0) return home after two narrow road victories over the Iowa Cubs, powered by a hot start from outfielder Nolan Jones. Jones went 3 for 8 in the series with two home runs and six RBIs, including a five-RBI performance in Sunday’s 7-5 win.

Conversely, the Indians (0-2) are searching for their first win after dropping a pair to the Saint Paul Saints at home. Indianapolis was outscored 13-8 in the two games.

A key matchup will feature Indianapolis right-hander Carson Fulmer, a player to watch following a strong relief outing on Sunday. Fulmer threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two in a 4-1 loss. He will aim to provide stability against a potent Columbus lineup.

The Clippers’ bullpen, which shined in Iowa with 7 1/3 scoreless innings from relievers Jack Carey and Tanner Burns on Sunday, will look to continue its early dominance.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Columbus 7, Indianapolis 5.

This game begins a five-game series between the International League rivals. The teams will meet again Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Columbus.

Following this series, the Clippers embark on a six-game road trip to face the Worcester Red Sox starting April 7. The Indians will return home to Indianapolis on April 7 to begin a series against the Louisville Bats.
