El Paso Chihuahuas at Sacramento River Cats
EL PASO, Texas (Interstat) — The El Paso Chihuahuas and Sacramento River Cats look to break into the win column Sunday evening when they conclude their season-opening series at Sutter Health Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PDT under partly cloudy skies with temperatures near 80 degrees.
Both clubs are 0-0 to start the 2026 campaign after Saturday’s series opener resulted in a 0-0 final, a rare scoreline that typically indicates a postponement or suspension. Official records from that contest were not immediately available.
The Chihuahuas will send right-hander Blade Tidwell to the mound. Tidwell, entering with a season record of wins and losses, last pitched in a competitive setting in the 2025 season finale, a 12-6 road loss for El Paso to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys on Sept. 21.
Sacramento also concluded its 2025 season on Sept. 21 with a 4-2 home loss to the Round Rock Express.
The series finale precedes significant travel for both Triple-A squads. Following Sunday’s game, El Paso embarks on a six-game road trip to face the Tacoma Rainiers beginning Tuesday. Sacramento will hit the road for a six-game set against the Salt Lake Bees, also starting Tuesday.
A projection from Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 7-4 victory for the visiting Chihuahas in Sunday’s contest.
