Syracuse Mets at Worcester Red Sox

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Syracuse Mets open their 2026 International League season on the road Saturday against the Worcester Red Sox in a matchup of teams coming off strong finishes to last year.

First pitch at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts, is set for 6:35 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 40 degrees.

Syracuse will send right-hander Tyler Uberstine to the mound. Worcester had not announced a starting pitcher as of Friday evening.

Both clubs enter with 0-0 records, but each concluded the 2025 campaign with decisive victories last September. The Mets shut out the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 9-0 in their finale, while the Red Sox edged the Rochester Red Wings 9-8.

The game begins a six-game series between the affiliates of the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. The teams will meet again Sunday before Syracuse returns home to host the Toledo Mud Hens for a six-game set starting Tuesday. Worcester embarks on a six-game road trip to St. Paul beginning Tuesday.

Despite the even records, statistical models suggest a closely contested opener. The Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring affair with Syracuse prevailing 7-6. However, the same outlet’s ELO rating system gives Worcester a slight edge, projecting the Red Sox with a 53% probability to win.

The game marks the first of 10 consecutive games against International League East Division opponents for the Mets. Following their series with Toledo, Syracuse will visit the Buffalo Bisons for three games starting April 7.

Worcester’s schedule shows a similar stretch of divisional play. After hosting Syracuse, the Red Sox will play six in Saint Paul before returning home to face the Columbus Clippers for three games beginning April 7.
