Antelope Valley vs San Diego Miramar
MOORPARK, Calif. (Interstat) — Antelope Valley will meet San Diego Miramar in a men’s junior-college basketball game Tuesday at the Moorpark Invitational, with the Marauders seeking a positive start and the Jets trying to build on an opening victory. San Diego Miramar is designated as the home team.
Antelope Valley enters at 0-0. The Marauders’ most recent result was a 90-87 loss at Santiago Canyon on Feb. 28. Antelope Valley will look to establish a steady half-court rhythm and avoid turnovers against a Miramar team that already has one game behind it. The Marauders’ upcoming schedule includes road games at Santiago Canyon, Pasadena City, Santa Barbara, Cypress, Cuyamaca and Los Angeles Valley, along with home contests against Rio Hondo, Glendale, Santa Monica and Canyons.
San Diego Miramar is 1-0 after a 79-75 win at San Bernardino Valley on Monday. Isaiah Marte is the player to watch for the Jets. In the victory, Marte played 40 minutes and scored 26 points while collecting seven rebounds, distributing five assists and blocking one shot. Timothy Dorn added 15 points and seven rebounds, and Jaden Merritt scored 14 points. The Jets’ early schedule has Saddleback, Orange Coast, Rio Hondo and Santa Ana visiting Miramar, followed by road games at Victor Valley and Santiago Canyon and later home dates against Cerritos, Palomar, San Diego City and Imperial Valley.
Antelope Valley will need a composed effort in its opener after a long layoff from its most recent game. The Marauders will rely on defensive communication and rebounding to limit second-chance opportunities. Miramar will try to carry over the balance it showed in its first game, when multiple players contributed on the offensive end. The Jets also will aim to protect the ball and set up their half-court offense through Marte. The tournament setting adds an early test for both programs as they sort through rotations and adjust to game speed. Antelope Valley’s schedule offers little time to settle in, while Miramar has a chance to start 2-0 before a stretch of home games.
The matchup will test Antelope Valley’s ability to handle an opponent with early-season momentum. Miramar has shown it can close out a tight game, while the Marauders will be playing their first contest after the Feb. 28 result. Antelope Valley’s next two games come on consecutive days, adding importance to managing rotations and energy in the opener. Miramar, meanwhile, will return home for Saddleback before hosting Orange Coast and Rio Hondo.
Interstat’s game simulator is projecting a final score of Antelope Valley 80, San Diego Miramar 78.
