Northern Oklahoma-Enid vs Trinity Valley

ATHENS, Texas (Interstat) — The Trinity Valley Cardinals delivered a dominant performance from the opening tip, overwhelming the Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets 83-44 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.

The contest was effectively decided in a lopsided first quarter where Trinity Valley established a commanding 48-17 lead. The Cardinals’ stifling defense and efficient offense set the tone early, leaving the Jets struggling to find any rhythm. Northern Oklahoma-Enid never recovered from the initial onslaught.

Trinity Valley’s victory was built on overwhelming advantages in nearly every statistical category. The Cardinals shot 53.7% from the field, compared to just 32.7% for the Jets. They also dominated the boards, outrebounding Northern Oklahoma-Enid 40-26, and showcased superior ball movement with 16 assists to the Jets’ four. Perhaps most telling was the disparity in turnovers, as Trinity Valley forced 20 Jets miscues while committing only 11, converting those into numerous transition opportunities.

Moussa Konare provided a significant spark for Trinity Valley off the bench, contributing 12 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes. Najee Graham added 11 points and five rebounds, while Zati Loubaki chipped in 10 points. The Cardinals’ depth was on full display, with nine players scoring and the team’s bench outscoring its counterparts substantially.

For Northern Oklahoma-Enid, the offensive struggles were pervasive. The Jets managed only six made free throws and connected on just 6 of 26 attempts from three-point range. KeJuan Payne led the team with five points in 32 minutes. The loss dropped the Jets to 16-12 on the season, while Trinity Valley, a national junior college power, improved its record to 30-5.

The most important sequence of the game occurred in the opening minutes of the first quarter, immediately setting the trajectory for the evening. After both teams committed turnovers on their initial possessions, Trinity Valley’s Zati Loubaki broke the seal with a dunk just 31 seconds into the game. This ignited a relentless 22-2 run by the Cardinals over the next six and a half minutes. During this decisive stretch, Northern Oklahoma-Enid was plagued by missed shots and turnovers, managing only a single free throw and a layup. Trinity Valley, meanwhile, operated with precision, getting easy baskets in transition and capitalizing on Jets’ errors. By the time Northern Oklahoma-Enid called its first timeout with 11:13 remaining in the quarter, already trailing 18-2, the outcome was largely determined. The Cardinals’ ability to impose their defensive will and execute offensively from the very start created an insurmountable deficit from which the Jets could not rally.
