Snow vs Butler (Kan.)

EL DORADO, Kan. (Interstat) — In a high-octane, turnover-plagued men’s junior college basketball game Tuesday night, the Butler (Kan.) Grizzly Bears outlasted the Snow Badgers 101-96.

The game, played on March 24, 2026, was defined by relentless pace and frequent miscues, with both teams combining for 51 turnovers. Despite the sloppy play, Butler used a more efficient offensive performance and critical plays down the stretch to secure the victory and improve to 25-9. Snow fell to 29-5.

The most important sequence of the game occurred in the final minute, with Butler clinging to a narrow lead. After Snow’s McCaden Adams made a layup to cut the deficit to 100-96 with 16 seconds remaining, Butler’s Tristan Hankins was fouled and made one of two free throws to extend the lead to five points with eight seconds left. Snow’s final attempt, a missed 3-pointer by Sam Sivulich, was tipped in at the buzzer by James Rust for the final margin, but the late free throw had already sealed the outcome.

Butler’s victory was fueled by a balanced attack and an ability to capitalize on Snow’s mistakes. The Grizzly Bears scored 101 points on 106 possessions for an offensive rating of 95.2, slightly edging Snow’s 91.7 rating on 105 possessions. Butler attempted 52 shots from 3-point range, making 13, while Snow went 7 for 22 from beyond the arc. The Grizzly Bears also forced 30 Snow turnovers, converting them into 21 steals.

Hankins led Butler with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Jaise Combs added 21 points and nine rebounds. For Snow, Adams scored a game-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists, but also committed several of his team’s turnovers. Brock McClure posted a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

The first half was an offensive showcase, with Butler taking a 101-96 lead into the break after outscoring Snow 53-49 in a second quarter that featured 15 combined turnovers. Both teams shot under 42% from the field for the game, with Butler at 40 of 96 and Snow at 33 of 72. The Grizzly Bears compensated for their lower shooting percentage with a significant advantage in trips to the free throw line, making 8 of 15 attempts compared to Snow’s 23 of 33.

Butler also won the rebounding battle 53-52, including 18 offensive boards that led to 21 second-chance points. Snow’s defense was active, recording 13 steals and nine blocks, led by Aaron Bliss’s four blocks, but it was not enough to overcome the team’s offensive inconsistencies and giveaways.

The Grizzly Bears are scheduled to play next at Howard (Tex.) on Wednesday. Snow’s previous game was a 128-86 win over Trinidad State on Sunday.
