Brunswick vs Gulf Coast State
BRUNSWICK DOLPHINS (21-5) vs. GULF COAST STATE COMMODORES (21-7)
WHEN: Saturday, March 21, 2026. WHERE: 2026 NJCAA DI Men’s Basketball Championship (Interstat) — First Round. WHAT: A first-round matchup in the national tournament featuring two 21-win teams.
Two teams with identical win totals but contrasting recent form will clash Saturday when the Brunswick Dolphins meet the Gulf Coast State Commodores in the first round of the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.
The Dolphins (21-5) enter the national tournament on a hot streak, having won five of their last six games, including a 90-76 road victory at Gaston on March 14. Brunswick’s offense has been explosive, averaging 102.5 points over its last four contests. A key catalyst is sophomore forward Linwood Rowe, who is averaging 18.3 points and 6.5 rebounds over his last six games. Rowe posted 27 points against Caldwell Tech on Feb. 28 and 22 points in just 18 minutes against Denmark Tech on Feb. 22.
The Commodores (21-7), however, stumbled into the tournament with a 79-67 home loss to Daytona State on March 13. Gulf Coast State will rely on its interior presence, led by sophomore forward Iyran Francis. A consistent double-double threat, Francis has recorded four in his last five games, including a 17-point, 12-rebound performance in a win over Indian River State on March 11 and an 11-point, 16-rebound effort in the loss to Daytona State.
The game presents a compelling stylistic clash: Brunswick’s high-octane scoring against Gulf Coast State’s rugged defense and rebounding, anchored by Francis. The Commodores’ backcourt of Jabari Quarterman and Trent Lincoln, who combined for 32 points in the Daytona State game, will be tasked with managing Brunswick’s tempo.
Both teams seek to advance in a single-elimination format. Brunswick last played March 14, while Gulf Coast State has had an eight-day layoff since its March 13 defeat. The Dolphins aim to extend their offensive momentum, while the Commodores look to rediscover the form that produced a 72-65 win over Northwest Florida State on Feb. 25.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, March 21, at the tournament site.
