Trinidad State vs Northwest
Preview: Trinidad State at Northwest in Men’s Junior College Basketball
POWELL, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Northwest College Trappers, riding a four-game winning streak, will look to solidify their winning season when they host the Trinidad State Trojans in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Friday.
The game is scheduled for March 13 at the Trappers’ home court.
Northwest (16-10) enters with momentum after a narrow 76-74 victory over North Platte on Thursday. Logan Woolstenhulme led that effort with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. The forward has been a consistent contributor, posting 9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists in a Feb. 14 win over Gillette.
Trinidad State (15-17) is coming off a 78-74 road win at Northeastern (Colo.) on Thursday. The Trojans were powered by a standout performance from guard Demorae Pritchett, who scored 29 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 28 minutes. Pritchett has been a high-volume scorer recently, dropping 21 points against McCook on Feb. 28.
The Trojans’ season has been marked by inconsistency, alternating wins and losses in their last six contests. Their defense has struggled at times, allowing 95 points or more in three of their last ten games.
In contrast, the Trappers have found a rhythm in the latter part of their schedule, winning seven of their last ten. Their defense has been a key factor, holding opponents to 74 points or fewer in four of their last five victories.
According to Interstat’s ELO system, Northwest is a strong favorite with a 74% probability to win Friday’s contest.
For Trinidad State, containing Woolstenhulme’s inside presence and rebounding will be critical. The Trojans will likely rely on Pritchett’s hot hand to keep pace. Manning Shareef, who added 14 points and 8 rebounds in Thursday’s win, provides another offensive option.
Northwest will counter with a more balanced attack. Alongside Woolstenhulme, Trey Rinn (18 points vs. North Platte) and Nayel Girard (13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) have been key contributors during the winning streak.
The teams are scheduled to meet again at Northwest on Saturday.
