Eastern Florida State vs Daytona State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — A spot in the state semifinals will be on the line Wednesday when two of Florida’s top junior college basketball teams, the Daytona State Falcons and Eastern Florida State Titans, meet in a highly anticipated quarterfinal of the FCSAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

The matchup, set for March 11, 2026, features the 20-6 Falcons as the home team against the 19-6 Titans in a rubber match between the rivals. The teams split their two regular-season meetings, each winning on the other’s home floor. Daytona State claimed an 83-96 victory on Jan. 3, while Eastern Florida State answered with a 98-93 overtime win on Feb. 4.

Both teams enter the postseason on hot streaks. The Titans have won seven consecutive games, including a dominant 119-92 road victory over Polk State in their regular-season finale on March 2. The Falcons have won four of their last five, capped by a 111-73 rout of Hillsborough on the same date.

The game will showcase two of the state’s premier players. Eastern Florida State is powered by forward Sean Register Jr., who has been on a remarkable scoring tear. Over his last four games, Register is averaging 28.8 points and 7.8 rebounds, including a 27-point, 10-rebound performance against Polk State.

Daytona State counters with dynamic guard Tyrese Lacey, who nearly posted a triple-double in the finale with 26 points, 10 assists and six rebounds against Hillsborough. Lacey facilitates the Falcons’ offense, averaging 8.5 assists over his last four contests.

The winner will advance to the tournament semifinals, moving one step closer to a national tournament berth. With nearly identical records, a split season series and star players performing at a high level, the quarterfinal promises a tightly contested battle with season-ending stakes.
