Columbia State vs Volunteer State
(Interstat) — Preview: Columbia State Chargers at Volunteer State Pioneers
MEN’S JUNIOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL
DATE: Monday, February 16, 2026
A stark contrast in seasons will be on display Monday when the surging Columbia State Chargers visit the struggling Volunteer State Pioneers in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.
The Chargers (12-3) enter riding a wave of dominant victories, most recently an 82-42 rout of Roane State on Saturday. Columbia State has won four straight games, with the last three coming by an average margin of 32 points. Their defense has been particularly stifling, holding opponents to 58 points or fewer in three of those wins.
A key player for Columbia State is Piotr Luczak, who provided significant energy off the bench against Roane State with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in just 14 minutes. Nate Malosa also posted a strong all-around line in that game with 7 rebounds and 7 blocks.
The Pioneers (6-10), however, have lost three of their last four, including a 99-87 defeat to Walters State on Feb. 7 in their most recent outing. Volunteer State’s defense has been a persistent issue, allowing an average of 88.5 points in its last four contests.
Player to watch Jailen Hardaway has seen very limited action for Volunteer State recently, logging just one minute in each of the team’s last three games.
The teams met earlier this season on Nov. 12, 2025, with Columbia State securing an 80-56 home victory.
Despite the lopsided records and previous result, Interstat’s game simulator projects a highly competitive contest, forecasting a 100-100 tie.
Columbia State will look to continue its push toward the top of the conference standings, while Volunteer State aims to leverage home court to halt its skid and pull off a significant upset.
