Western Texas vs South Plains

LEVELLAND, Texas (Interstat) — A surging South Plains College men’s basketball team looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts a struggling Western Texas College squad in a junior college matchup Tuesday night.

The Texans (13-4) have won three of their last four games, most recently an 87-82 victory over New Mexico Junior College on Jan. 19. They will face a Westerners team (7-9) that has lost three straight, including a 79-74 defeat at Clarendon College last Thursday.

South Plains boasts a balanced attack, but forward Antallah Sandlin’el has been a consistent force. He is coming off a 23-point, 7-rebound performance against New Mexico and has averaged 19.3 points over his last four contests.

Western Texas will lean heavily on guard Anesu Dehwe, who is in the midst of a standout individual stretch. Dehwe poured in a season-high 28 points in the loss to Clarendon and has scored in double figures in five consecutive games, averaging 15 points per game over that span.

The teams met just one day prior, on Monday, Jan. 26, in a game with a reported score of 0-0, suggesting a postponement or cancellation. Tuesday’s contest will serve as the make-up.

The matchup features a stark contrast in recent fortunes. South Plains has proven formidable at home, while Western Texas has struggled on the road, going 1-2 in its last three away games.

For the Westerners, containing Sandlin’el and finding secondary scoring behind Dehwe will be critical. Calven Charles, who posted a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) against Clarendon, will be key in the frontcourt.

The Texans aim to use their depth and home-court advantage to pressure Western Texas and improve their position in the conference standings. A win would mark their fourth in five games.

Tip-off is set for Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at the Texan Dome. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Snyder on Feb. 26.
