Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa vs Northern Oklahoma-Enid
Preview: Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Mavericks at Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets
ENID, Okla. (Interstat) — Regional bragging rights and momentum in the conference race will be on the line Tuesday when the Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets host the Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Mavericks in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.
The Jets (7-3) enter with the stronger overall record and will look to rebound from a tough 94-89 road loss to Western Oklahoma State last Thursday. Prior to that, Enid secured a 79-72 home victory over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, fueled by a spectacular 22-point performance from guard Dontrell Yearby in just one minute of play, highlighting his explosive scoring potential.
Tonkawa (4-6), meanwhile, seeks to end a three-game skid. The Mavericks are coming off an 89-66 home loss to Seminole State (Okla.) on Jan. 15. In that contest, forward Ebi Bortey provided a bright spot with 10 points and eight rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench. Bortey’s efficiency and rebounding will be key for the Mavericks against a formidable Enid squad.
The intrastate rivals are familiar with each other, having just met on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, in a game that resulted in a 0-0 score, indicating a recent postponement or cancelled contest. This makes Tuesday’s scheduled meeting the first completed game between the two this season.
Enid has shown a potent offense, averaging over 80 points per game in its wins. Beyond Yearby, the Jets have demonstrated depth with multiple players capable of high-scoring outputs.
Tonkawa’s path to an upset will likely require tightening a defense that has allowed an average of 83 points during its current losing streak, while finding more consistent scoring beyond sporadic individual efforts.
The Jets will continue a busy week at Seminole State on Thursday. The Mavericks will return home to face Redlands on Jan. 22.
Tip-off is set for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
