DECATUR, Ala. (Interstat) — The Calhoun Warhawks defeated the East Mississippi Lions 95-80 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday.

Calhoun established a commanding early lead, outscoring East Mississippi 46-37 in the first quarter and 49-43 in the second. The Lions could not close the gap after halftime. The result improved Calhoun’s season record to 6-4. East Mississippi fell to 8-3. The Warhawks’ victory came one day after an overtime road win and defied a national statistical projection that heavily favored the Lions. Calhoun visits Volunteer State on Saturday. East Mississippi hosts Wallace State next Tuesday.
