Cuesta vs Oxnard

Preview: Cuesta Cougars at Oxnard Condors

TORRANCE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two Western State Conference men’s junior college basketball teams on contrasting trajectories will meet Saturday when the Oxnard Condors host the Cuesta Cougars.

The game, scheduled for Dec. 13, 2025, at a neutral site in Torrance, pits a struggling Cuesta squad (2-8) against an Oxnard team (5-7) that has shown recent signs of life, winning three of its last four contests.

The Condors are coming off an 81-64 road victory over Coalinga on Friday, powered by a standout performance from sophomore forward Carter Reid. Reid has been a consistent force for Oxnard, averaging 22.3 points and 9.3 rebounds over his last four games. His versatility was on full display in a 28-point, 11-rebound effort in a win at Chaffey on Dec. 9.

Cuesta snapped a two-game skid with a narrow 71-68 win at El Camino on Friday. The Cougars were led by guard Aiden Pearsall-Morgan, who scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. Pearsall-Morgan has been a bright spot, averaging 11.8 points per game this season and logging heavy minutes for a team seeking consistency.

While Oxnard holds the better overall record, both teams have faced challenges in the non-conference slate. The Condors’ offense, when clicking behind Reid and support from guards Jose Valdovinos and Ruben Jimenez, has proven potent, scoring 83 points or more in three recent wins.

Cuesta will rely on the scoring balance shown in its latest win, where James Nugent added 16 points and Ryan McNamee contributed 17 off the bench.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Oxnard enters as the projected favorite with a 61.3% probability to win. The contest serves as a final tune-up before both teams break for the holidays and resume conference play in January. The teams are scheduled to meet again in San Luis Obispo on Jan. 17.
