El Camino vs Los Angeles Harbor
Preview: El Camino Warriors at Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks
WILMINGTON, Calif. (Interstat) — A tightly contested California junior college men’s basketball series will add another chapter Friday when the El Camino Warriors visit the Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks.
The Warriors (14-12) edged the Seahawks (11-14) 65-62 just over two weeks ago on Feb. 4 in Torrance. Friday’s rematch in Wilmington offers Harbor a chance for home-court revenge and for El Camino to solidify a winning season record.
El Camino enters having split its last four games. After the narrow win over Harbor, the Warriors suffered a close loss to Compton before securing a road win at Long Beach. They are coming off a 95-81 defeat at Los Angeles Southwest on Feb. 13.
The Warriors are led by guard Rocco Gaffoglio, who torched Harbor for 19 points in 22 minutes in the first meeting. He is coming off a career-high 27-point performance in a loss to Compton on Feb. 6, establishing himself as a consistent scoring threat.
Los Angeles Harbor seeks to halt a three-game skid, with losses to El Camino, Los Angeles Southwest and Cerritos. The Seahawks’ most recent victory was a 71-69 road win at Long Beach on Feb. 6.
Guard Nate Guevara is a key player for the Seahawks. He was held to five points in the first matchup with El Camino but is coming off a 16-point effort against Los Angeles Southwest on Feb. 11, indicating a recent uptick in offensive production.
The Seahawks will need to contain Gaffoglio and find more consistent scoring to improve upon their 62-point output from the first game. El Camino aims to sweep the season series and maintain momentum as the regular season winds down.
Tip-off is scheduled for Friday evening at Los Angeles Harbor College.
