Redwoods vs Fresno City

Preview: Redwoods Corsairs vs. Fresno City Rams

MODESTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Redwoods Corsairs and Fresno City Rams will look to rebound from Thursday losses when they meet in a California community college men’s basketball matchup Friday at the Modesto College Tournament.

The Corsairs (7-5) enter as slight favorites, projected with a 54.2% win probability by Interstat’s ELO system. They fell 90-75 to Yuba on Thursday, snapping a two-game win streak that included a 99-89 victory over Mendocino on Dec. 6. Redwoods has shown a potent offense, scoring 94 and 99 points in recent wins, but consistency has been an issue.

The host Rams (4-6) seek to end a three-game skid, most recently a 76-45 defeat to San Francisco on Thursday. Fresno City’s season has been marked by narrow swings, with four of its six losses coming by 10 points or fewer. A bright spot was an 86-68 home win over Hartnell on Dec. 4.

This neutral-site contest presents a contrast in momentum. Redwoods has won three of its last five, while Fresno City has dropped four of its last five. The Corsairs’ offense, averaging over 78 points per game in that five-game stretch, will test a Rams defense that allowed 76 points or more in four of its losses.

Key for Fresno City will be rediscovering its early-November form, when it secured wins over El Camino and Oxnard. Redwoods aims to tighten its defense after allowing 90 points in Thursday’s loss.

Following this tournament game, Redwoods travels to face Cuesta on Dec. 19. Fresno City returns home to host Citrus on Dec. 16.

Tip-off is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at Modesto College.
