Palomar vs Los Angeles Trade Tech
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Palomar Comets delivered an overwhelming offensive performance, cruising to a 95-67 victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.
From the opening tip, Palomar established a decisive and ultimately insurmountable lead. The Comets opened the game on a 17-0 run, a stretch that defined the entire contest. Angel Ochoa ignited the surge with a 3-pointer just 14 seconds in, and the Beavers did not score their first points until a Jordan Webster jumper with 19 minutes and 19 seconds left in the first quarter, by which time Palomar led 17-2.
The Comets’ early dominance was fueled by efficient shooting and stifling defense. They connected on five of their first six field goal attempts while forcing Los Angeles Trade Tech into six consecutive misses and two turnovers to start the game. The Beavers called a timeout just over five minutes into the game, already trailing 24-4, but were unable to stem the tide.
Isaiah Pomare led Palomar with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists. Ochoa added 22 points, and Justin White scored 16. The Comets shot 49.3% from the floor and 38.7% from 3-point range, making 12 shots from beyond the arc. Defensively, they held the Beavers to 37.9% shooting and just 4-of-16 from 3-point range.
Will Smith III led Los Angeles Trade Tech with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Webster contributed 16 points.
Palomar’s offensive rating of 121.8 points per 100 possessions starkly contrasted with the Beavers’ 87.5, highlighting the efficiency gap. The Comets also won the rebounding battle 45-35 and recorded eight steals and four blocks.
The Comets led 52-36 at halftime and maintained their comfortable margin throughout the second half. The victory improved Palomar’s season record to 7-3, while Los Angeles Trade Tech fell to 4-4.
Both teams return to action Sunday. Palomar travels to face San Diego City, while Los Angeles Trade Tech visits Cypress.
