(Interstat) — A clash of early-season men’s junior college basketball powers highlights Friday’s action at the Citrus College Holiday Classic as the Cerritos Falcons face the Santiago Canyon Hawks.

Both teams enter the 5 p.m. contest with identical 5-1 records. Cerritos, the visiting team, has won five straight since a season-opening one-point loss. The Falcons are coming off a 71-68 road victory over Allan Hancock on Nov. 26, led by Kamaury Washington (12 points, 7 rebounds) and Isaac Sowell (14 points, 5 rebounds).

Santiago Canyon, the home team, saw its own five-game win streak snapped in a 99-96 home loss to Palomar on Tuesday. The Hawks were paced in that game by Jacob De Armas (15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Paris Lassiter (19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists).

The matchup features two of the state’s top early performers. Cerritos has won its last three games by an average of 18 points, while Santiago Canyon’s potent offense had scored at least 81 points in four straight games before Tuesday’s narrow defeat.

Friday’s game is part of the California community college tournament hosted at Citrus College in Glendora.
