Los Angeles Pierce vs Palo Verde
(Interstat) — In a nonconference matchup at the Gregg Anderson Tournament, the Los Angeles Pierce Brahmas (3-3) will face the Palo Verde Pirates (1-7) in a California men’s junior college basketball game Friday.
The Brahmas, who have alternated wins and losses over their past five games, are looking to rebound from a 77-59 defeat at San Diego Mesa on Wednesday. Their season has been marked by volatility, including a 103-point offensive outburst against Imperial Valley and a 20-point loss to Copper Mountain.
Palo Verde enters mired in a six-game losing streak, most recently a 97-72 home loss to Pasadena City on Nov. 30. The Pirates’ lone victory came in their season opener, a 91-44 rout of Imperial Valley on Nov. 1. They have allowed an average of 90.5 points during their current skid.
The game presents a chance for both teams to build momentum. Pierce will rely on its more consistent offense, which has scored over 80 points in two of its wins, to challenge a porous Palo Verde defense. The Pirates, struggling to find rhythm, will aim to leverage home court advantage to secure a much-needed second victory before beginning conference play in January.
The tournament contest tips off Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.
