Salt Lake vs Snow

Preview: Undefeated Snow Badgers Host Salt Lake Bruin Bears in Junior College Showdown

EPHRAIM, Utah (Interstat) — The undefeated and nationally ranked Snow College Badgers put their perfect record on the line Tuesday night when they host the Salt Lake Community College Bruin Bears in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.

The Badgers (16-0), who have dominated their schedule by an average margin of 28.6 points, are coming off a 96-65 rout of Colorado Northwestern on Saturday. Snow’s engine is sophomore forward Brock McClure, who is averaging a double-double and posted an 18-point, 15-rebound performance in his last outing. McClure has recorded double-doubles in three of his last five games, showcasing consistent dominance in the paint.

They face a Salt Lake (6-8) team seeking a season-defining upset. The Bruin Bears have shown flashes, including a 99-68 road win at Central Wyoming on Dec. 6, but have struggled for consistency. Their hopes will lean heavily on guard Nick Jefferson, who is coming off a 17-point, 6-assist effort in a 78-72 loss at Utah State Eastern last Saturday. Jefferson has been a high-volume scorer and playmaker, dropping 27 points in a game just before the holiday break.

Historically, Snow has built its record with both explosive offense and stifling defense, scoring over 100 points four times this season. In their most recent meeting, a non-conference game in November 2021, Salt Lake secured a 102-62 victory, but both rosters have since turned over entirely.

The Interstat game simulator projects a rare 100-100 tie, highlighting the potential for a competitive contest despite the stark difference in records. Salt Lake will need to find an answer for McClure inside and limit turnovers to disrupt Snow’s transition game.

For Snow, a win maintains their pristine record as they enter the heart of their conference schedule. For Salt Lake, it represents a prime opportunity to derail a juggernaut and build momentum.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST at the Horne Activity Center. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Salt Lake City on Feb. 5 and back in Ephraim on Feb. 19.
