Southwestern Christian vs New Mexico Military
ODESSA, Texas (Interstat) — Two junior college men’s basketball teams looking to halt losing streaks will meet Friday when the Southwestern Christian Rams face the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos in the Wrangler Club Shootout.
Southwestern Christian (4-5) enters the contest reeling from a 101-60 road loss to Odessa on Thursday. The Rams have dropped three consecutive games, including defeats to Kilgore and Panola earlier in the week. TahJavion Hurndon and Nicholas Smith were the top performers in the loss to Odessa.
New Mexico Military (3-5) is also seeking to rebound after a 100-88 home loss to Blinn on Thursday, despite a 29-point, 9-rebound effort from Joel Pinto. The Broncos’ season has been marked by close contests, with three of their five losses coming in overtime.
The neutral-court matchup in Odessa features two programs with nearly identical records, though statistical models give a slight edge to the Broncos. Interstat’s ELO system projects New Mexico Military with a 56% probability to win.
Both teams face a quick turnaround, as each is scheduled to play again on Saturday. Southwestern Christian will host Midland, while New Mexico Military will host Pearl River.
