SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking to reverse early-season struggles will meet Saturday when the Salt Lake Bruin Bears host the Western Nebraska Cougars.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 1-6 records across all competitions. The game is the second of a back-to-back set after the teams opened their series Friday.

Western Nebraska is looking to snap a five-game losing streak. The Cougars are coming off a 69-82 road loss to Cochise on Nov. 15, where Amare Jackson and Viktor Lukic-Gavric each scored 15 points. Their lone victory this season came on Nov. 11, an 81-78 win at Eastern Wyoming.

Salt Lake has also found wins hard to come by, having lost five straight. The Bruin Bears’ last outing was a dominant 102-62 victory over Eastern Wyoming on Nov. 12. Their only other win was a season-opening 83-60 triumph over Central Wyoming on Nov. 4.

Following Saturday’s game, Western Nebraska returns home to face Miles on Monday. Salt Lake’s next contest is on the road at Casper on Dec. 5.
