Palomar vs Moorpark

LA MESA, Calif. (Interstat) — The Palomar Comets and Moorpark Raiders will meet for the second time in less than three weeks Friday in a California men’s junior college basketball matchup at the Grossmont Tournament.

Palomar (5-3) earned an 83-67 road win over Moorpark (3-4) on Nov. 19 in the first head-to-head meeting this season. The Comets enter the rematch coming off a 99-96 victory at Santiago Canyon on Tuesday, powered by a 26-point, 9-rebound performance from Isaiah Pomare. Angel Ochoa added 22 points and seven rebounds in that win.

Moorpark has dropped two straight since that loss to Palomar, most recently falling 83-69 at Bakersfield on Nov. 25. Eric Kubel scored 13 points for the Raiders in that contest, while Roman Finney contributed 10 points and five assists.

The Comets have shown a potent offense, averaging over 80 points per game in their five wins. The Raiders will look to counter that firepower and improve upon a defense that has allowed an average of 74.3 points in their four losses.

Friday’s tournament game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
