Skyline vs De Anza
CUESTINO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams with identical records and a recent nail-biter in their history will meet again Friday when the Skyline Trojans visit the De Anza Mountain Lions.
Both teams enter the California Community College Athletic Association matchup at 10-16 overall after suffering double-digit losses in their most recent outings on Feb. 13. Skyline fell 61-52 to Canada College, while De Anza was defeated 87-59 by San Mateo.
The teams’ first meeting this season, on Jan. 28, was a tight contest won by Skyline, 83-79, at home. De Anza guard Isaac Sisay logged one minute in that loss, recording two rebounds and an assist. He remains a player to watch for the Mountain Lions.
Skyline’s key performer is forward Isiah Dixon, who is coming off a dominant 24-point, 13-rebound double-double in a narrow 53-51 loss to San Mateo on Feb. 6. His production will be critical for a Trojans team that has struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in four of its last five games.
De Anza has shown more offensive firepower recently, including an 87-66 road win at Canada on Feb. 6, but has been inconsistent defensively, allowing an average of 86.5 points over its last four contests.
Despite both teams’ defensive challenges, a high-scoring affair is not a given. The Interstat game simulator projects an unprecedented 100-100 tie, highlighting the perceived evenness of this matchup. The result could hinge on which team can execute in the final minutes, a scenario that played out in Skyline’s favor just over three weeks ago.
Friday’s tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at De Anza College. The winner will break the season record tie and gain a measure of momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.
