Los Angeles Pierce vs Moorpark
Preview: Moorpark Hosts Los Angeles Pierce in Junior College Men’s Basketball
MOORPARK, Calif. (Interstat) — The Moorpark College Raiders will look to sweep the season series when they host the Los Angeles Pierce College Brahmas in a California Community College Athletic Association men’s basketball game on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026.
The Raiders (16-9) enter as heavy favorites, having defeated the Brahmas (5-20) decisively, 92-72, in their first meeting on Jan. 28. Moorpark has won three of its last four games, most recently a 77-71 victory over Allan Hancock on Feb. 11 where Eric Kubel scored 30 points.
Kubel, a key player for the Raiders, also tallied 21 points and seven rebounds in the January win over Pierce. He is averaging 21.3 points over his last three contests.
The Brahmas are mired in a five-game losing streak, including an 80-85 home loss to Oxnard on Feb. 14. Despite the team’s struggles, sophomore guard Mandell Anthony has been a consistent bright spot. Anthony is coming off a 24-point, five-rebound, five-assist performance against Oxnard and averaged 22 points over his last two games.
In the Jan. 28 loss to Moorpark, Anthony posted 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Pierce’s recent results have been defined by defensive struggles, allowing an average of 87.2 points during their current skid. Moorpark, which averages 79.6 points per game, will look to exploit that trend.
For the Brahmas to be competitive, they will need secondary scoring beyond Anthony. King Miller, who had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double against Oxnard, is a candidate to provide that support.
The Raiders, meanwhile, will aim to maintain their momentum as they position for the postseason, relying on Kubel’s scoring and a balanced attack that saw Jake Field (15 points) and Josh Castaniero (10 assists) contribute significantly in their last outing.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Moorpark College.
