Monterey Peninsula vs Foothill

MONTEREY PENINSULA LOBOS AT FOOTHILL OWLS

MEN’S JUNIOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREVIEW

LOS ALTOS HILLS, Calif. (Interstat) — The Foothill Owls, riding a wave of momentum, will host the struggling Monterey Peninsula Lobos in a California Community College men’s basketball matchup on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Foothill (17-9) enters the contest fresh off a dominant 76-53 road victory over Hartnell on Feb. 13. The Owls have won three of their last four games, with the lone blemish a narrow 70-68 home loss to San Jose on Feb. 6. Their offense has shown explosive potential, evidenced by a 109-point performance against Hartnell last month.

Monterey Peninsula (10-17) seeks to halt a two-game skid and recover from a devastating 86-47 home loss to West Valley on Feb. 13. The Lobos’ recent form has been inconsistent, mixing a tight win over Hartnell with several double-digit losses. Their season has been defined by an inability to string together victories, having not won consecutive games since early January.

The previous meeting between these teams provides a blueprint for Wednesday’s game. On Jan. 23 in Monterey, Foothill edged the Lobos 60-58 in a defensive battle. That narrow victory extended Foothill’s recent dominance in the series and highlighted the pressure-point nature of this rivalry.

For the Lobos, the challenge will be generating consistent offense after being held under 60 points in three of their last five outings. Slowing the Owls’ multifaceted attack, which has surpassed 80 points nine times this season, is paramount.

Foothill, firmly above .500, will look to protect its home court and solidify its standing before a quick turnaround at Cabrillo on Feb. 20. The Owls are heavy favorites on paper, but the Lobos have shown they can keep it close, making the rematch a test of execution in clutch moments.

Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday night at Foothill College.
