San Bernardino Valley vs Cerro Coso

Preview: San Bernardino Valley at Cerro Coso Men’s Basketball

RIDGECREST, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging San Bernardino Valley men’s basketball team will look to continue its dominance when it visits Cerro Coso on Wednesday in a California community college matchup.

The Wolverines (21-5) enter on a nine-game winning streak, most recently defeating Barstow 69-54 on Saturday. They have been led by the versatile play of guard Duante Murphy, who is averaging 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists over his last six contests. In the Jan. 17 meeting between these teams, San Bernardino Valley defeated Cerro Coso 72-62.

The host Coyotes (7-16) have struggled for consistency but are coming off a narrow 79-75 road loss to Mount San Jacinto. They are powered by guard Demarris Day, who has been a prolific scorer, averaging 22.0 points over his last six games, including a 28-point performance against Barstow last month.

San Bernardino Valley’s offense has been potent during its streak, scoring 82 or more points in eight of the nine victories. Alongside Murphy, Jaison Joyce and Stanley Thomas III each added 16 points in the win over Barstow.

Cerro Coso will need a major defensive effort to slow the Wolverines’ momentum. In their earlier loss to San Bernardino Valley, the Coyotes kept it close for stretches but ultimately could not contain a balanced attack.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. PST on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. San Bernardino Valley hosts Palo Verde on Friday, while Cerro Coso travels to Barstow the same night.
