Cabrillo vs West Valley

SARATOGA, Calif. (Interstat) — A key California Community College men’s basketball rematch is set for Wednesday when the West Valley Vikings host the Cabrillo Seahawks.

The Vikings (20-6), boasting one of the state’s top records, will look to avenge a Jan. 23 loss to the Seahawks (14-9) on their home floor. In that meeting, Cabrillo secured a 72-66 victory.

Since that defeat, West Valley has been dominant, winning five consecutive games by an average margin of 33.4 points. Their most recent outing was an 86-47 rout at Monterey Peninsula on Feb. 13.

Cabrillo’s form has been more inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over its past five games. The Seahawks are coming off a 78-68 home loss to San Jose on Feb. 13, which followed a lopsided 112-39 win at Gavilan on Feb. 11.

A key player to watch for Cabrillo is Charlie Kosta, who delivered an efficient 18 points and seven assists in just one minute of play in that Gavilan victory. His playmaking will be crucial against a stout West Valley defense.

The Vikings have been nearly unbeatable at home this season, while the Seahawks have proven they can win on the road, as shown in their earlier victory over West Valley. This matchup will likely hinge on whether Cabrillo’s offense can solve West Valley’s defensive pressure a second time, or if the Vikings’ recent run of form carries them to a statement win.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. PST on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at West Valley College.
