Los Angeles City vs Rio Hondo
Preview: Los Angeles City at Rio Hondo
WHITTIER, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Rio Hondo Roadrunners host the Los Angeles City Cubs in a California community college contest.
The matchup is a quick rematch, as Rio Hondo (8-17) defeated Los Angeles City (4-21) 87-70 on Jan. 30. In that game, Rio Hondo’s Ryan Osborne posted 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while Los Angeles City’s Jaelin Brown scored 17 points with 12 rebounds.
Both teams are coming off lopsided losses last Friday. Rio Hondo fell 107-85 at East Los Angeles, despite 20 points from Osborne. Los Angeles City, however, snapped a six-game skid with a 75-61 home win over Los Angeles Trade Tech. Brown was dominant in that victory, recording 15 points and 19 rebounds.
Brown, a key player for the Cubs, has been inconsistent but capable of big performances. His recent outings include a 19-rebound effort and an 18-point game. For the Roadrunners, Osborne has been a consistent scoring threat, averaging 20.4 points over his last five games, including a 31-point outing in a double-overtime loss last month.
The Roadrunners will look to leverage their home court and previous win to sweep the season series. The Cubs aim to build on their most recent victory and find a rare winning streak. Despite their records, both teams feature individual talents capable of controlling the game, setting the stage for a competitive South Coast Conference matchup.
Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Rio Hondo College.
