Citrus vs Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — The state’s top-ranked junior college team puts its dominant season on the line Saturday when the Citrus Owls visit the Bakersfield Renegades in a California Community College Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup.
The Owls (21-1) have been nearly unstoppable, boasting a high-octane offense that has averaged 106 points per game during a nine-game winning streak. Their lone loss came in overtime on Jan. 2. In their last outing, a 118-91 rout of Canyons on Feb. 7, they showcased their depth with Amiri Meadows (15 points, 10 assists), Rockwell Reynolds (23 points) and Leo Ricketts (23 points) all starring.
Meadows, a dynamic guard, orchestrates the attack. He nearly posted a triple-double against Canyons and had seven assists in the teams’ first meeting.
The Renegades (13-10) will aim to slow that momentum and avenge a 109-78 home loss to Citrus on Jan. 21. They are coming off a gritty 66-64 win over Antelope Valley on Feb. 7, fueled by a double-double from forward Markell Brooks (22 points, 10 rebounds).
Brooks will be central to Bakersfield’s hopes. He scored 20 points against Citrus in January and is capable of dominant performances, as shown by a 30-point, 16-rebound effort at Los Angeles Valley on Jan. 24.
The Renegades have shown resilience in close games but will need a near-perfect defensive effort to contain the state’s most potent offense. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Bakersfield College.
