Santa Monica vs Antelope Valley
Preview: Santa Monica Corsairs at Antelope Valley Marauders
LANCASTER, Calif. (Interstat) — The Antelope Valley College men’s basketball team will look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify its position in the conference standings when it hosts Santa Monica College on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
The Marauders (10-12 overall) edged the visiting Corsairs (5-18) 81-76 just over three weeks ago on Jan. 21. In that contest, Antelope Valley overcame a 40-point performance from Santa Monica’s standout guard Jerrell McCready.
McCready enters this rematch in blistering form, coming off a 40-point, four-assist effort in a 100-83 loss to Citrus on Wednesday. He has been the consistent offensive engine for a Corsairs squad mired in a five-game losing skid. Support in the frontcourt comes from Ka’mari Johnson, who posted a near double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds against Citrus.
Antelope Valley seeks to rebound from a narrow 76-71 home loss to West Los Angeles on Wednesday. The Marauders are led by forward Mister Burnside, who recorded a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds in that defeat. Burnside’s interior presence will be key against a Santa Monica team that has struggled defensively.
While Antelope Valley holds the better record, consistency has been elusive. The Marauders’ recent results feature a mix of tight losses and convincing wins, including a 95-78 victory over Los Angeles Valley on Jan. 28. Santa Monica’s lone win in its last ten outings was a 74-68 result against Los Angeles Valley on Jan. 10.
The matchup hinges on whether Antelope Valley can contain McCready’s high-volume scoring and if Santa Monica can find an answer for Burnside inside and generate secondary offense. The Corsairs will also aim to improve their ball security after recent losses where defensive lapses proved costly.
Tip-off is set for Saturday at Antelope Valley College. The Marauders’ next game is at home against Los Angeles Valley on Feb. 20, while Santa Monica hosts Canyons on Feb. 18.
