Grossmont Upsets Palomar in Narrow California Junior College Thriller

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Interstat) — Lorenzo Martinez scored 20 points and dished seven assists to lead the Grossmont Griffins to an 81-79 men’s basketball upset over the Palomar Comets on Friday night. The Griffins avenged a 22-point loss to Palomar from January.

Grossmont built a seven-point halftime lead behind a 42-point first quarter. Palomar mounted a fierce second-half rally but fell just short. Justin White led the Comets with 14 points and eight rebounds. The win improves Grossmont to 8-14, while Palomar drops to 16-8.
