San Mateo vs De Anza
Bulldogs, Mountain Lions Set for Friday Rematch
CUPERTINO, Calif. (Interstat) — A pivotal California community college men’s basketball rematch is set for Friday when the San Mateo Bulldogs visit the De Anza Mountain Lions.
The teams last met on Jan. 21, when De Anza secured an 80-75 road victory. San Mateo (16-8) will look to avenge that loss and solidify its standing, while De Anza (10-14) aims to build momentum from its most recent performance, an 87-66 road win at Canada College on Feb. 6.
The Bulldogs enter following a gritty 53-51 road victory at Skyline last Friday, which snapped a two-game skid. Their season has been marked by close contests, including four games decided in overtime.
De Anza’s season has been inconsistent, but the Mountain Lions have shown flashes, including the January win over San Mateo and a 90-89 overtime thriller against Canada College on Jan. 14. A player to watch for the Mountain Lions is Isaac Sisay, who contributed 2 rebounds and an assist in 1 minute of play in the Jan. 28 meeting at Skyline.
Despite De Anza’s lower overall record, the Interstat game simulator projects a tightly contested affair, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The previous head-to-head result suggests another competitive matchup is likely.
Both teams are navigating the backend of their conference schedules. San Mateo will travel to Las Positas next Wednesday, while De Anza faces a tough road test at Chabot the same night.
Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff at De Anza College.
