Las Positas vs Ohlone

Top-Ranked Hawks Face Renegades in Coast Conference Showdown

FREMONT, Calif. (Interstat) — The state’s top-ranked junior college men’s basketball team puts its dominant season on the line Friday when the Las Positas Hawks visit the Ohlone Renegades.

The Hawks (22-2), riding a seven-game winning streak, will face the Renegades (11-14) in a California Community College Athletic Association Coast Conference matchup. Tipoff is set for Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Ohlone College.

Las Positas, whose only losses this season came against San Francisco and Columbia, has been a powerhouse, winning its last three games by an average margin of 31 points. That includes a 97-58 rout of Skyline on Wednesday. Ohlone enters with momentum of its own, coming off a 96-80 road victory at De Anza.

The Hawks are led by standout forward Kodey Weary, who has been a force of late. In his last five games, he has averaged a double-double, including a 23-point, 17-rebound performance in a win at Chabot on Feb. 6. His consistent production on both ends of the floor has been central to Las Positas’s success.

This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. On Jan. 21, the Hawks held off a challenge from Ohlone for an 84-78 victory at home. The Renegades have shown they can compete with the conference’s best, having taken Las Positas to the wire previously.

Despite the disparity in records, a Interstat game simulator projects a narrow, high-scoring affair, predicting a 100-100 final score. For that to materialize, Ohlone will need to contain Weary and find an answer for a Las Positas defense that has held opponents to an average of 63 points during its current streak.

Ohlone’s path to an upset likely requires a performance similar to its last outing, where it scored a season-high 96 points. Slowing the pace and limiting second-chance opportunities against the bigger Hawks will be critical.

A Las Positas victory would solidify its hold on first place in the conference standings as the regular season enters its final weeks. For Ohlone, a win would provide a massive resume boost and shake up the playoff picture.

Following this game, Las Positas will host San Mateo on Feb. 18, while Ohlone travels to face Canada College on the same date.
