San Diego City vs MiraCosta
Preview: San Diego City Knights at MiraCosta Spartans
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging San Diego City men’s basketball team looks to continue its dominant run through conference play when it visits MiraCosta on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026.
The Knights (18-5), winners of seven straight games, are heavy favorites against the struggling Spartans (9-13) in this California Community College Athletic Association matchup. San Diego City has averaged 94.6 points per game during its winning streak, which includes a decisive 89-70 victory over MiraCosta on Jan. 16.
All eyes will be on San Diego City forward Dylan Griffin, who has been on a historic tear. In the last meeting with MiraCosta, Griffin scored 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Over his last five games, he is averaging 26.8 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists, showcasing a complete all-around game. His recent performances include a 31-point, 14-rebound effort at Grossmont and a 20-point, 16-rebound, 8-assist near-triple-double against San Diego Mesa.
MiraCosta, which has lost four of its last five, will counter with forward Logan Mason. Mason is coming off a strong 22-point, 14-rebound performance in a loss to Grossmont on Feb. 4. However, he was limited to just three points in 16 minutes in the January loss to the Knights, a matchup the Spartans will need him to dominate to have a chance at an upset.
The Spartans have shown flashes, including an 89-87 win over San Diego Miramar on Jan. 23, but have struggled with consistency. Their defense, which allowed 101 points to Palomar in a loss last month, faces its toughest test against the high-powered Knights’ offense.
San Diego City last played on Feb. 6, earning an 85-61 road win at Cuyamaca. MiraCosta has been off since its 80-72 home loss to Grossmont on Feb. 4.
Tip-off is set for Friday night at MiraCosta College. The Knights’ next game is at Palomar on Feb. 20. The Spartans host Palomar on Feb. 18 before traveling to San Diego Miramar on Feb. 20.
